Her strong background in financial planning is essential in assisting her clients with their own complex financial matters and property divisions. Attorney Tierney has broad reaching contacts in the community and works closely with other professionals in areas including real estate, retirement benefits, financial planning, tax implications, and business valuations, to ensure that each of clients is provided comprehensive representation in his or her unique case.

Moira received her education at Smith College and Suffolk University Law School. After receiving her education, there was never any doubt that Attorney Tierney would return to the area to provide legal services as she has very strong familial ties to the community. Moira's mother, Rosemary Tierney, was the Mayor of New Bedford from 1992- 1998; and the first female elected to the prestigious position. Moira's father, The Honorable John A. Tierney, was the District Attorney for Bristol County from 1975-1979, the City Solicitor of the City of New Bedford from 1983-1984, and an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court from 1990 until his retirement in 2002.

As a certified mediator, Moira is a skilled negotiator who understands the value of reaching agreements outside of court when possible and in respecting the preference for discretion. However, when it is necessary, Attorney Tierney does not hesitate to aggressively represent her clients at hearings and at trial. She has successfully tried cases in Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Nantucket, and Plymouth Counties. Moira is also a Court Appointed Conciliator and has served as a Guardian Ad Litum at the request of Judges in Barnstable, Bristol, and Plymouth Counties.
